When to Repair or Replace Hardwood Floors

Everything in your home, from the floors to the windows and doors, will wear out eventually. It’s hard to know all of the time whether or not you are being penny wise and pound foolish by repairing an item instead of replacing it entirely. Over the next several weeks I’ll tackle both interior and exterior items in your home that can be tricky when determining which option will be most cost effective when all is said and done.

Today I’m going to discuss hardwood floors. First, nearly all old and damaged flooring can be repaired by skilled contractors. Assuming you do not have hardwood floors with structural subfloor issues, extreme movement between boards, or floors that have been sanded a few too many times, you’ll likely save some dough refinishing your hardwood floors vs. replacing them.
